Title: From Bench Tech to Strategic Partner: 25 Years of IT in Perspective Author: Jill Stagman, New Business Development Date: May 11, 2026 Category: IT Strategy / About Pantheon

How I Got Here
I started in technology the way a lot of people in my generation did — sitting at a bench, pulling apart computers, removing viruses, and trying to figure out why something that worked yesterday suddenly didn’t. There was no fancy title. No strategic roadmap. Just me, a screwdriver, and a stack of machines that needed fixing.
Over time, that work evolved. I moved into server administration, learned how networks connect, how businesses depend on their infrastructure in ways most people never think about until something breaks. Technology became less about fixing things and more about preventing problems, planning ahead, and helping organizations use their tools intentionally.
Then I took a break. I went home to be with my kids — one of the best decisions I ever made and one I’d make again in a heartbeat. When I came back to the industry at the end of 2024, I stepped into a business administration and sales role at Pantheon Computers, the managed services company I co-own with my business partner. The industry had changed. A lot. But the fundamentals hadn’t.
What Strategic IT Advisership Does
One of the strategic advisory offerings I’m most proud of at Pantheon is our IT Advisership service — what many organizations would recognize as a virtual CIO advisory relationship. Twenty years ago, this wasn’t really a thing outside of enterprise organizations. If you ran a small business or a city department or a school, you either had an IT person who kept the lights on, or you had nobody.
While managed services focus on day-to-day support and operations, IT Advisership is centered on long-term strategy, budgeting, lifecycle planning, and business alignment. Through our IT Advisership engagements, we sit down with you — regularly, not just when something breaks — and we talk about where your technology is, where it’s going, and what it’s going to cost to get there. We build roadmaps. We track your hardware lifecycle so you’re not blindsided by a server that’s aging out. We help you plan for the next two years in a way that fits your budget.
“Think of it the way you think about your accountant or your attorney. You don’t hire them only when you’re in trouble. You keep them close because their perspective protects you.”
IT Advisership isn’t break-fix support. It’s strategic partnership.
Why Technology Planning Matters More Than Ever
The cost of reacting to technology problems is always higher than the cost of preventing them. I’ve seen it hundreds of times. A server that could have been replaced in a planned, budgeted upgrade becomes an emergency at the worst possible moment. A security gap that got overlooked turns into a breach. A compliance requirement nobody knew about shows up in an audit.
At Pantheon, we bring 25 years of perspective to the table. We’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. We’re not guessing. We’re planning. And we’re doing it alongside you, as an invested partner in your success.
In the next blogs from me, I’ll start walking through the specific services we’ve built at Pantheon — beginning with the one we believe is the foundation of everything: advanced security.
